JESUS, THE JEWS, AND RESURRECTION
JOHN 5:16-30
I. WHY THE JEWS HATED JESUS?
A. He performed deeds of mercy on the Sabbath. Verse 16
B. He made Himself equal with God. Verse 18.
Two of the most disputed teachings.
1. Jesus is the only Savior.
2. Jesus is God.

Jesus is not saying believe in the Father to the exclusion of believing in Me.
He has just stressed He and the Father are the same.
To believe in the Father is to believe in Christ.
II. THE RESURRECTIONS.
A. There are two spoken of in these verses.
B. Spiritual and physical.
1. Verse 24. Spiritual “has now come.” They will hear and live.
There was not a mass physical resurrection. This has to be spiritual.
This is the born again experience. John 3

Particulars of physical resurrection.
1. Both saved and lost will be resurrected. Verse 29
2. Will this happen at the same time?
Can read these verses and think yes.
Jesus is not dealing with the time frame.
He is dealing with the fact that all will be raised.

Believers are raised when Christ comes back to the earth.

b. The lost are resurrected at the end of Christ’ reign on earth.

Will the saved and lost have the same type of eternal body? No!
