INTRODUCTION
Thank you for enrolling your child in our Meadowood Kid's MDO Program. We look forward to meeting all of the children and parents. Each room will be a little different, so please get to know your child’s teacher, ask any questions. Please be sure to read this parent handbook and all notes sent home with your child from the teachers or the Director. All of our teachers have worked very hard to be prepared to have a great year with your children. If at any time your child is sick or you need to get a message to us, you may call 741-1100. We are excited about getting to know your child and looking forward to a great year!
REGISTRATION FEES
Registration fee is a total of $60.00. Thirty dollars is due at the time you enroll your child in the Meadowood Kid's MDO Program. This will reserve a spot for your child. The second half $30.00 registration fee is due at Open House or the 1st day of class in August. Registration fees are non-refundable.
TUITION
Tuition is due on the 1 st school day of each month. August will be 1/2 month tuition and September through May will be the full month tuition. If tuition is not paid within one week of the due date, a late fee of $10.00 will be charged. Please place your monthly tuition in an envelope with the child’s name on the outside and place it in the drop box located at the Welcome Center desk in the Preschool Hall.
Parents, please remember that the tuition is based on a yearly fee. Some months may have more teaching days, some less, but for your convenience it has been broken into nine monthly payments.
CANCELLATION POLICY
If you are moving or need to remove your child from our program, a one month notice is required. This will enable us to find a replacement for your child from our waiting list.
DAYS AND TIME OF CLASS
Meadowood Kid's MDO is taught on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-3:00. Please do not enter the preschool area until 9:30 a.m. This is when the locks on the preschool doors will open. The locks will come back on around 10:00 and then turn off at 2:30 so you can pick up your child. If you should need to get your child before that time, there is a button to push outside the doors that will let us know that someone is here. Please bring your child as close to 9:30 as possible and not really late because they miss out on so much fun and possibly their craft time or snack time. Classroom clocks are set by Time and Temperature – the phone number is 599-1234.
PICK-UP LATE FEE
We would appreciate your child being picked up on time. If you are late, a late pickup fee of $1.00 per every 5 minutes will be charged. After 15 minutes, the late charge will be $5.00 per every 5 minute increments.
SECURITY CARDS
For your child’s safety, we will be using a security card system. You must sign in your child and give an emergency contact number, you will then receive a card with your child’s name. It is a small card and can be carried in a billfold, pocket or purse. You must return the security card and sign out your child before your child can be released to you. If you do not return the security card you must show a picture ID-driver’s license (even if we know you) and fill out the ID
Verification Form. You will fill out the top portion. The teacher will fill out the 2 nd portion and the Director or Minister of Childhood Education must sign the form before your child can be released to you. Please let us know if someone other than the person dropping off the child will be picking up the child. If you cannot get the security card to the person picking up the child, they will be required to fill out the ID Verification Form, so inform them to bring proper ID. If you lose or misplace the security card, it will cost $1.00 to have the card replaced.
PARENTS IN THE CLASSROOM
Our parents are always welcome; however, we cannot allow parents in the rooms except at Open House. Please give and receive Hugs and Kisses in the hallway before bringing your child to the door. This helps tremendously for teaching purposes and for your child to adjust to their classroom environment and for safety reasons.
LABELING
Please label everything!!! (Backpacks, coats, extra clothing, show and tell, lunches and lunch boxes, tupperware, pillows, blanket, bottles, pacifiers, sippy cups, etc.)
LUNCHES
Please send a lunch with your child. Finger foods or foods that do not need to be heated (such as lunchables) are great.
CLOTHING
Please pack an extra set of clothing for your child. Accidents do happen during potty training or sometimes during lunch. Please label extra clothes. Remember to dress you child for outside weather as we will go outside unless it is raining or snowing. PLEASE LABEL COATS.
TOYS / ITEMS FROM HOME
Many hours of planning have gone into supplying our classrooms with excellent toys, books, and other learning items for your child. These items are changed periodically to maximize interest and the learning environment for your child. We ask that your child leave all toys or other items at home unless we send a note home indicating something specific (Show and Tell) to be brought to school.
DISCIPLINE
Your child will be expected to listen quietly at certain times. He or she will be expected to be kind to others and follow classroom rules. Two warnings will be given for mis-behavior. If a child does not comply, he/she will be asked to sit in time-out for a period of time (usually 2-5 minutes) and the teacher will talk to him/her. If this does not take care of the situation, your child will be taken from the classroom and receive a “talk” from the Director. If this does not take care of it, then your child will be taken to the Minister of Childhood Education for a “visit”. If we cannot solve the problem, we will call you so that you may come and take your child home for the day. We do not anticipate this happening, but we do feel that you should be aware of this. We want our classroom to be a happy experience for all the children.
We want our room to be a safe place, therefore the following behaviors result in Time-Out:
- Running in the room
-
Talking ugly to a friend or teacher
-
Hitting
-
Biting
-
Kicking
-
Distracting others during Circle Times
We prefer that you do not discuss your child’s behavior or development in front of your child. If you would like to talk to a teacher or Director, please call 741-1100 or drop us a note.
SNACKS
PLEASE LET YOUR TEACHER KNOW IF YOUR CHILD HAS ANY ALLERGIES. Your child will receive a morning snack and an afternoon snack. We will send the snack bucket home with your child the day before they are to bring snacks and drinks. The child bringing the snacks and drinks will be the leader for the day. Please ask your child’s teacher the amount you will need to bring, our classes vary in size. Usually crackers and cheese, rice krispie treats, pretzels, bananas, pudding, or fruit chunks work great for snacks. For drinks, juice boxes such as Capri Sun are great, but you can bring a large bottle of juice. We will celebrate each child’s birthday as close to the date as possible. Mini cupcakes or birthday cookies would be fine for their special day! PLEASE CHECK FOR ALLERGIES THAT WILL BE WRITTEN ON THE SNACK BUCKET.
PARTIES
We will have class parties for the holidays. The main parties we will have are: Fall Party, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s, Easter, and the End of Year Party. There will be a sign up sheet at the classrooms to bring goodies.
FIELD TRIPS (3-4 year old class)
We will take two field trips in the 3-4 year old class and parents will be needed to provide the transportation. Siblings are welcome on these field trips. The first one will be in October to TG Farms in Tuttle, OK. The second one will be in May either to Tiger Safari or a zoo. For our field trips each child is required to have a parent or adult accompanying them. This gives you and your child a special time together and gives the teachers a chance to get to know the parents and family.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Two teachers will remain in the room with the children at all times. Running is not allowed in classrooms or hallways. Children will be encouraged to wash their hands frequently during the day. A bathroom is located in each classroom. Children are allowed to go to the bathroom at anytime. SaniVex is the sanitizer we use on our toys and equipment.
If your child gets sick at school, we will contact the parent or emergency numbers you have given us to pick your child. If you leave a cell phone number, please make sure it is turned on.
If your child is sick with a fever, has vomiting or diarrhea, please do not send them to class until they have had no fever or other symptoms for 24 hours. In the case of Pink Eye, the child cannot return until they have used the medication for 48 hours. If a child is sent home because we suspect he/she has Pink Eye and the doctor says it is only allergies, a note from the doctor will be required before the child can return. In the case of chicken pox, the spots must be totally dried up before returning to class. This will take about 7-10 days after breaking out.
In order to administer emergency prescriptive medications of any kind (inhaler, epi pens, etc.), we must have a signed letter from a parent and the doctor. Non-prescriptive medications will not be administered.
All children in the Meadowood Kid's MDO Program must have a Notarized Medical Release Form filled out and a copy of an updated immunization record on file. Please make sure this is done at Open House or the 1 st day of class. Medical Release forms are available in the Director’s office. We do have a notary on the premises.

FIRE / TORNADO SAFETY
Located in each room is a fire route map which will be used in case of fire. Fire drills will be conducted during the school year. During severe weather or a tornado, we are required to move to an area of safety. During a tornado or any other threatening events (that would put public school in lock down), our building will be locked down and no one will be able to enter or exit the building.
SEVERE WINTER WEATHER
In case of severe winter weather, if Mid-Del Schools are closed, we will be closed. On occasion, we reserve the right to add an extra snow day for the safety of the children. In this case, please watch the school closings for “Meadowood Baptist Church / Meadowood Kid's MDO Program”. We will not extend the calendar nor will there be any refunds for snow days.
